The Raketa Malevich Triptych

All three watches in one box — Square, Circle and Cross, numbered as a set. At the end of the hall the wall turns and the three stand together, which is how Malevich hung them. $4,990 for the set, in an edition of 100.

Each is a mechanical Raketa: a 40 mm steel case, a dial cut from natural agate, and the in-house automatic 2615 movement inside.

I. Malevich Square

In 1915 Malevich exhibited a black square hung across a corner of the room, where an orthodox Russian icon would sit. A century later the square returns to the dial — a refusal of ornament, a horizon.

The painting

Kazimir Malevich, Black Square, 1923. Oil on canvas, State Russian Museum, Saint Petersburg. It hangs in the hall, and the watch stands in the bay beside it.

II. Malevich Circle

The circle is time itself made visible: a closed line without beginning, without end, indifferent to the hour it displays. Malevich painted it, we wind it.

III. Malevich Cross

Two lines meeting at a right angle — the oldest coordinate, the plainest architecture. The Cross anchors the triptych between reduction and rotation.

The painting

Kazimir Malevich, Black Cross, 1923. Oil on canvas, State Russian Museum, Saint Petersburg. It hangs in the hall, and the watch stands in the bay beside it.

About this site

This is a concept promo, not a shop. The order flow is a simulation: no card is charged and nothing is shipped. The paintings belong to the State Russian Museum; the watches are a design proposal built around them.
